Bread Pudding

  • 7 slices bread, toasted and cubed
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup raisins (optionsl)
  • A dash of nutmeg

Place bread cubes and raisins in baking dish. Combine sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. Mix well. Pour over bread and raisins, mix gently to be sure that the bread is well coated.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, or until golden brown and knife inserted near center comes out clean.

Contributor's note: The original recipe called for more sugar and no cinnamon, nutmeg, or raisins, so you can make adjustments to the flavorings and it still seems to work out well. Also, I always spray the baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
