Buttermilk Biscuits

Serves 4
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 Tablespoons baking power
  • 5 Tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Mix the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening. Add milk. Mix.

Knead for a short bit, maybe 1 or 2 minutes. Spread and flatten on the counter, 1/4 to 1/3 inch thick.

Cut up into biscuits.

Put on an ungreased pan, maybe brush lightly with butter if you want, and put in a 450°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
