Contributed by "Nestor Z."

Marinade:
  • 1 sour orange
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 6 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 sirloin steaks, thinly sliced (about 10" x 7" x 1/2")
  • 1/2 cup corn oil

Cover steaks with marinade ingredients in a shallow pan, cover, and refrigerate for an hour or more.

Preheat a large frying pan at medium-high heat. Add corn oil and distribute evenly in pan. Add the steaks and cook one side for 5 minutes. Turn steaks, add the onion slices from the marinade, and cook for another five mintes. Remove steaks and continue cooking onions until they are tender and lightly browned.

Contributor's note: Serve as a sandwich on French bread or accompany with rice, black beans, and fried sweet plantains.
